But then it occurs to me that all consumers/users/customers pretty much think once they pay a professional for services, that professional magically makes whatever they were servicing--a car, an air conditioner, or a book--work right.]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[Of course I totally agree with you, Stephen. In my work with privately published books I&#039;ve noticed two things. 

1. Writers tend to think it&#039;s all about the writing. But people expect the writing to be good--that&#039;s pretty much a given. [Hence the need for a good editor and proofreader] But it&#039;s the design--both the cover and the interior--that brings potential readers to the book.

2. Many self-publishers/private publishers conflate design, page composition, and printing because printers offer these services. So the writer thinks that the step is 1. hand off a Word file 2. get a printed book. 

So we continue on trying to educate.]]></description>
